If the vehicle is nationally exempt as a ‘Disabled Passenger’ or a ‘Disabled’ tax class vehicle, then LGV and minibuses adapted for a disabled user can apply for a permanent local exemption.
This exemption specifically applies to LGVs (N1) or Minibuses (M2) specifically adapted for use by a disabled user and not used for hire or reward. These vehicles will have had a substantial and permanent adaptation to the vehicle, specifically to suit a disabled wheelchair user’s particular needs to enable them to travel in the vehicle, or enter and drive it.
You’ll need to provide the following pieces of evidence to support your application:
- An image or copy of the V5C document which shows the VRN and the vehicle classification
- Images of the vehicle showing the substantial and permanent adaptations to the vehicle
