The owner of a non-compliant vehicle which has driven in the Clean Air Zone must pay the charge via a Central Government Payment Website Drive in a clean air zone - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk). The Government portal allows a user to pay 6 days before the day of travel, any time on the day of travel or 6 days following the day of travel. We refer to this as the “payment window”. The owner will not receive any notification that they have driven in a Clean Air Zone and the obligation is on the vehicle owner to be aware that they will drive or have driven in the Zone. Owners of vehicle fleets will be able to set up accounts to manage multiple vehicles, but similarly they will need to pay for each Journey. Clean Air charging will be enabled from 30th May 2022
